Burnett County authorities have launched a homicide investigation after a woman was found dead inside a residence early September 15 in the village of Siren. Around 2:23 a.m., Burnett County Dispatch received a call of a possible homicide and law enforcement officers responded to the scene.
According to a media release, Hudson Police officers were dispatched to the Hudson Lakefront Park around 10:52 p.m. on a report of a fight. One subject fled the scene prior to officers arriving and struck two pedestrians in the process. One was treated and released, while a second suffered critical injuries.
A Rochester man has been arrested in connection with a drive-by shooting that left six people injured in downtown La Crosse early Saturday morning. Deandrew Seneca Grant, 31, was arrested mid-morning Saturday and is facing six counts of attempted homicide and one count of bail jumping.
A Vernon County Sheriff's deputy shot and killed a driver during a traffic stop on Friday evening, authorities have now confirmed. The incident occurred at around 5:55 p.m. near Wisconsin Highway 35 and Gianoli Rd. in Genoa. Vernon County sheriff's deputies were dispatched to a residence in the area for a welfare check.
The 42-year-old man who was fatally shot by law enforcement officers Saturday night after he allegedly exited a residence while armed with a rifle has been identified as a Minnesota corrections officer, last employed at the Stillwater prison. A written statement from Minnesota Dept. of Corrections Commissioner Paul Schnell identified the man as Tyler Abel, of rural New Richmond.
A 42-year-old New Richmond man was shot and killed by law enforcement after he exited a residence while armed with a long gun Saturday night in Star Prairie Township. The St. Croix County Sheriff's Office says a domestic disturbance report was received around 10:45 p.m. at a residence in Star Prairie Township, about five miles north of New Richmond. A caller said her husband was "out of control" and "threatening to bring his AR out."
GLENWOOD CITY—A St. Croix County sheriff's deputy has died after being shot by a suspect near Glenwood City. The suspect fled through a wooded area and was later found with a fatal gunshot wound, believed to be self-inflicted. He was confirmed deceased at the scene, per law enforcement and EMS radio dispatches.
Milwaukee police officers shot and injured two suspects while responding to reports of large crowds in the 1200 block of S. Cesar Chávez Dr. late Friday night. Police say while officers were trying to disperse the large crowd around 11 p.m., "several individuals" began firing shots in the area.
